Currently the following issues are being addressed by the Chamber:
- Closing off of all Discretionary Grant Contracts for the following financial years:
- 2006/2007 (TETA6)
- 2007/2008 (TETA7)s
- 2008/2009 (TETA8) – unless there are valid extensions to the affected contracts
The Chamber has been communicating with all our Stakeholders in this regard.
- The following 34 Skills Programs have been developed in consultation with industry and submitted for registration with our SD&LP Unit:
- Understanding International Trade in Shipping Level 4
- Learnership: Supply Chain Management within the Public Sector
- Understand the Basics of Ships Design & Cargo Operations in Shipping Level 4
- Shipping ( Finance)
- Reading & Writing in a wide range of Contexts Level 4 (Shipping)
- Health & Safety in Shipping Level 3
- Finance in Shipping Level 4
- Evaluate & interpret Text Level 4 (Shipping)
- Communication in Shipping Level 4
- Basic of Marine Insurance & Legal Principles within Shipping Level 4
- Analysis in Shipping Level 4
- Develop & Implement Supply Chain Performance Management System
- Develop & Execute a Sourcing Strategy within SCM
- Design a distribution Network within SCM
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Fundamentals of International Trade & Execute International Purchases.
- Create Sustainable value through appropriate cost and pricing strategies
- Conduct Demand Forecasting and Develop Supply and Capacity Plans to meet demand
- Analyze & Assess Strategic Plans and Sourcing within SCM
- Information Management within SCM
- Philosophy & Understanding of SCM

Once registration of the above has been finalized, the Chamber will advise accordingly and ensure that the Skills Programs are posted on the Chamber page for ease of reference.
- The Chamber is in the process of meeting with various Stakeholders regarding the development and registration of five Learnerships in Supply Chain Management – we anticipate this process to be finalized by mid 2011.
- The Chamber will be hosting and facilitating a capacity building workshop for all our registered SDF’s in preparation for the Mandatory Grant applications, a date will be communicated shortly.
- Monitoring Visits have commenced, some of you would have already had a visit from us. Please note that it is imperative that the Chamber monitors the implementation of your Workplace Skills Plans and any Discretionary Grant Contracts within your organization. The monitoring strategy of the Chamber currently is to meet with each Stakeholder at least once per annum, if there is a need for more visits, this can be discussed and agreed upon on a case by case basis.
- The Chamber will be commencing shortly with the process of having programs developed for PART 108 Aircargo Regulatory training & other F&C programs – the Chamber is awaiting further information from the ETQA Unit in this regard, as the establishment of the QCTO has changed the way that Qualifications/Skills Programs will be developed in the future.
