Management Structure
The Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) is tasked with the responsibility of education, training and skills development in the Transport Sector. Taking cognisance of the pivotal role transport plays in the economic and social development of the country as a whole and the changes that are happening globally, TETA has consciously set itself up to be at the forefront of innovation in training and human capital development.
To this end, the vision that TETA has adopted for the coming years is to be at the heart of skills innovation in the Transport Sector in all its learning programme interventions and in the way business is done with the sub-sectors and transport industry as a whole. That in itself calls upon the Transport SETA to be globally focussed, looking at cutting edge technologies in the human resource development field in general.

The Transport Sector is vast in its scope and comprises diverse subsectors. TETA has, in the main, subdivided their Business Units according to the generally accepted Transport subsectors.
TETA Business Units service the following subsectors: Aerospace, Freight Handling, Forwarding and Clearing, Maritime, Road Freight, Road Passenger, Rail and Taxi. Detailed scope of the subsectors will be discussed under individual Business Units.
Through direct intervention and coordination, each Business Unit focuses on the needs of the constituent subsector with regards to levy disbursement for mandatory and discretionary grants, skills development interventions, stakeholder management, programme monitoring and all other attendant activities.
Being at the forefront of the Transport Sector skills needs, TETA plays a pivotal role in qualification development, research and quality assurance.
